Born in 1960 near Willowra community, Janet was taught to paint by her aunts May and Molly Napurulla. She started with traditional body paint designs and Seed Dreamings, but then came the more complex Ngapa or Water Dreamings which show the underground water flow at Warntapari using her intricate dotting skills. Janet is also a highly talented Linguist whose literacy skills have been used in teaching programmes and translating her native Warlpiri language to English
